Transverse Mass Reconstruction for W's
Transverse Mass Reconstruction for W's at STAR
APS Abstract - Spring 2009 - STAR W program
Updated abstract (October 15, 2009): Version 2
Open Questions
Do we support multiple networks on single switches with VLANs, switch port segmentation or other means? For instance, at remote spots, like PMD’s racks, can we put in a single switch an
Plan of action / critical path items
I think we need to start from the core and work outwards. This will allow us to finish as much as possible before the run starts and start to see the most benefits as early as possible.
STAR networks in 1006 and their nicknames
“starp”: 130.199.60.0/23
“DAQ/TRG”: 172.16.0.0/16 (non-routed)
Core components
There are several “core” pieces currently. Core is defined somewhat vaguely as connecting lots of devices or requiring relatively high performance:
Overview of the reshape started in 2009
The goal of the online networking reshape is to provide a stable and well-understood networking environment with the possibility of future expansion to meet STAR’s foreseeable needs over time
Background as of fall 2009
The network layout at the STAR experiment has grown from a base laid over ten years ago, with a number of people working on it and adding devices over time with little coordination or standardizati
Online network documentation
This is to serve as a repository of information about networking in the online environment.

* --===================================================================--*
Agenda:
1) Run10 Priorities - Bedanga
2) NPe-hadron correlation analysis - Bedanga / Jamie
3) TBD
* --====================================================================--*
Brief Summary: 0) Attendency: Olga, Jamie, Bedanga, Flemming, Nu
1) Upgrade proposal review panel members: Flemming will contact PAs and proposed chairs to start the process.
2) Run10 priorities: start with 200 or 62 GeV? Nu will discuss with colleagues from PHENIX and Steve. // Olga will prepare the list of PC for sign up next Monday. // Today, Olga will send out a final announcement regarding the sign up, including the rough run plan.
3) e-h correlation analysis: According to NPE task force, the values of the NPe at high pT (>3 GeV) have moved down quite a bit. If there is no according change in AA collisions, the value of RAA will change. If we pub. the paper, we in fact endorse other resutls. On the other hand, we do not understand the results yet: each year, run3, run5, run6, and run8, the results are different.
Request the document the understanding of the difference between run3, run5, run6, and run8.
4) BES long document: not refereed journal, only to arXiv, preliminary results could be included with the permission from PWGs. Nu will talk t Helen.
Notes:
1) STAR TPC Review (key= star2009), June 4,5, BNL. Ron Settler (chair). Review report.
2) NPE Committee, H. Huang (chair)
3) STAR TOF Close Out Review, Aug. 10-11. Review report and The Plan.
4) STAR FMS Review agenda, Sept. 1-2, BNL, P. Jacobs (chair). Review report
Future Meetings:
1) DNP 2009, Oct. 13 - 17, Waikoloa
2) STAR-DoE HFT CD-1 review, postpond to Nov. 12-13, BNL
3) STAR Analysis Meeting, Jan. 11-15, 2010, UT Austin
4) APS April meeting, Feb. 13-17, 2010, Washongton DC. (abstract )
