MinutesTPC meeting January 13, 2021
Hardware status:
HV systems ok. GG drivers fixed/swapped modules and the noisy channels reported earlier is gone. Laser ok. Will work on gas systems, ongoing plan to have Ar flowing by next mid-week, getting blue sheet by Mon 25.
Methan gas flow starting with shifts on Tuesday 26 at 8 am.
Alexei mentioned Jeff had asked for some positions of laser – will forward e-mail to Yuri.
Gene has requested sets of run with GMT trigger that was created for run20, but where commissioning was not complete. A software (trigger code had a flaw, but is now fixed).
The MTD will be available for the startup phase, and for possible other physics runs like O+O should they happen.
Yuri brought up that it will be very useful to have about 3 days of FF cosmics. He was requested to come with a specific goal for tracks/triggers that we can forward to ops group.
Q: When did we last have FF cosmic data?
Gene reminded us that DB should be initialized for this run. Will ask Irakli if he had scripts from last year to do this and get hold of them.
Flemming mentioned that Star ops mgt and star mgt will like to have a review for TPC focused on calibrations and tracking. As Gene pointed out this has not been done in about a decade. It will be an internal STAR committee chaired by Zhangbu.
Yuri informed us that there was an error in his calculations (code, not formulae) and that the
Results presented last week on asymmetric corrections are wrong. They are symmetric in East/West, Thus the issues on the alignments and calibrations still stands as un-resolved.
Gene has started a study of looking at residuals in low-luminosity 19.6 Gev runs and see a split between inner and outer. Seems related to padrow40 correction i.e static distortion due to the gridleak wall. Gene will present results at a later stage of the study.

SpaceCharge EastWest Symmetry
This is meant to provide a simple document for understanding through basic principles of electromagnetism how the TPC SpaceCharge distortion is symmetric on the east and west sides of the TPC.
TPC QA 2021
This blog is intended to maintain a log of issues that will be identified as the
run progresses. For initial start the process will be as for run20 and 19. See earlier QA blog page

FST QC meeting
virtual , at 14:00 (GMT), duration : 00:00
Internal review of QC process and current status
Recommendation from review
An internal review of the procedures and implementation of the QC plans and documentation should be performed after the first 10% of the production is complete before further expensive and sparse parts (sensors and asics!) are committed.
The brief review should present
1) Demonstrate implementation of e-log
Take 2 cases
a) One of the prototype that was populated and tested (03,/04) Try to grade it with the current requirements as we know they were successfully populated and running
b) Take of the currently produced modules that were send to UIC (9-12) and show the grading
2) Present a summary of grading for the 09- now modules for each of the sub-grading quantities (outer, inner, different fastnesses, DR). Explain how the weighted grading is done.
3) Present what went wrong with the rejected ones (overflow glue,..) and what that implies for further production
Charge to review:
Is the QC documentation sufficient?
Does the QC documentation in the assembly document (V3) reflect what is done now?
Should the summary contain some of the sub grading?
Is there a need for any change in procedures, or QC measures?
