Ben Barber's Poster (updated 18 October 2011)
In response to Will's last posting today, Wednesday, Ben has made the requested minor changes and has altered the sentence that was, as Will pointed out, incorrect in the section "Reconstruction Two Cluster Invariant Masses". Here is Ben's response:
"Sorry for the confusion on this point, Dr. Jacob's is correct on this issue. The method Alice invoked sums the SMD energy from each cluster (let's call it e_n) under or adjacent to a tower. The energy of the tower is then split amongst the clusters according to the fraction e_i/(sum[e_n]). So if a cluster deposited half of the total SMD energy for a given tower, it gets half of that tower's energy.
"My apologies, I remember the process being different. I thought Alice invoked some sort of distribution to weight the tower in the center more heavily than the neighboring towers. I'm probably also confusing it with one of the alternative methods in the folder that is available. But Dr. Jacob's is correct on the issue of how the weighting works."
The wording has now been changed to: "In the method1 selected, SMD information is used to predict the fraction of the total cluster energy deposited in each tower." Ben will provide any further explanation orally if needed.
